Our Responsibility
Before committing to a procedure you need to be fully informed of your options and comfortable with the surgeon and the proposed plan. At the initial consultation with Matt Hansen you will be carefully assessed before any treatment suggestions are made. Remember there is no obligation to undertake any treatment. For many treatments a second consultation will be necessary to fully inform and prepare you and to allow you to ask questions. No surgery should be performed until you are sure of the plan and Matt is sure it is in your best interests.
Pre-Operative
Our pre-operative consultation process is personalised to our patients' unique needs. Planning for surgery is aided by computer imaging, where the desired alterations can be explored and discussed with Matt Hansen. Detailed consultations with Matt ensure you receive long-term improvements both in appearance and function.
During the Operation
All operations are done in fully accredited hospitals under sterile conditions. If general or twilight anaesthesia is required it will be administered by a consultant anaesthetist who will be present throughout the procedure to ensure that you are safe and to allow the surgeon to concentrate solely on the operation. In some practices the anesthetic is administered and supervised by the surgeon or a nurse, we believe this is an unsafe practice and runs counter to anaesthetic guidelines as well as potentially distracting the surgeon from the operation itself.
Post-Operative
We will advise you of how to look after yourself and your operative site prior to any surgery. You will also be supplied with written information sheets on how to care for your wound. All overnight cases will be seen by Matt Hansen and his nurse the morning after their surgery. Your first follow up appointment will be arranged by the hospital staff, or if preferred you can contact our rooms to organize this. There is a nurse in attendance in our rooms on most days to answer any of your queries and to change your dressings if needed.
If you have any concerns following your surgery, please contact our rooms on 9321 2612 during office hours. An after hours number will be provided to you on your post-operative information sheet.et.

Your Responsibility
As a patient you must inform us of your past medical history including any psychiatric illness or personal issues which are relevant to your decision to consider surgery, or which might influence your surgical outcome.
Your health and the care you take of yourself before and after surgery will influence the speed of recovery and the result. You should prepare yourself for the best outcome by having a healthy diet, exercising regularly, avoiding smoking and drug use, and using good sun protection.
You will need time to recover from surgery. Make sure you have given yourself enough time and have the support necessary before embarking on treatment.
