Facial & Skull Disorders
Disturbances of facial growth or deformity can be present at birth or develop over time or after trauma. Matt Hansen is part of the multidisciplinary Western Australian Craniofacial unit based at PCH that includes neurosurgeons, geneticists, ophthalmologists, dentists, orthodontists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons. The management of these conditions ranges from simple measures such as with the common condition of positional plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome of infancy), through to more complex multidisciplinary management of conditions such as Craniosynostosis, genetic syndromes, tumors and post traumatic deformities. Most children are assessed through PCH whilst adults are initially assessed through Matt’s practice in West Perth.
Haemangiomas & Vascular Malformations
Vascular anomalies of the facial area range from the strawberry birthmarks of infancy that are often self limiting, through to complex malformations that may worsen with time and growth. Matt Hansen is part of the multidisciplinary vascular anomaly program based at PCH which includes dermatologists, ENT and general surgeons, ophthalmologists and interventional radiologists who provide assessment and treatment when required.
